Very nice condition liner with half of chinstrap. Has period correct punch out for EGA on other side of helmet. Never before owned by a collector until it was found in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Indian Head is in great condition for being 100 years old. Liner still has paper note in center. Face of Indian still visible with eyes, nose, and mouth.
WWII M42 Tropical Italian Fascist Cap. The only reason I picked this cap up was because it appears to be a GI Capture. Sent back to the states and addressed to “Mamma.” It has a date of 11-7-1943 written on it too, as well as Italian cities that the GI went through, such as Piacenza and Teramo.
Gorgeous Hawley fiber liner, original United Carr chinstrap, and a fixed bale Schlueter pot. This came out of a Long Island gentleman's basement. He could not recall if it was an original set--he and the neighborhood kids mixed and matched liners and shells when they were playing war in the 50s with their dads' helmets!
Pair of medals name to a Thomas Hammond RN 203972 from Margate, England. Hammond was born in 1883. He was issued a British War Medal and a Long Service Good Conduct medal (both named as Leading Boatman). Medal pair comes with original parchment record of service; it is uncommon to find the original paperwork and ephemera still with the medals. His original Coastguard record is in the grouping.
On September 11th,1920, the Irish Republican Army raided the Torr Head Coastguard Station and War Signal Station, located in County Antrim, Ireland. Hammond was one of the HM Coastguard men who was on duty during the raid. His original documents provide further provenance confirming his presence at the raid. The IRA successfully acquired 5 revolvers, 280 rounds, 4 telescopes, 2 pairs of binoculars, a heliograph, and the GPO telephone from the Torr Head Station. The Coastguardsmen reported that the soldiers of the Republican Army only took items of military-significance. They took no personal effects, apologized for inconveniencing the women and children, and were regarded as men of "good position."
This item is now housed in the renowned Conchuir ODulachain Collection.
